ESPN slots Kansas basketball for Big Monday presentation

The Big 12 conference announced July 25 that the Kansas men’s basketball team will make four appearances on ESPN’s Big Monday — a weekly presentation of three high-profile games.

This will be the seventh consecutive season that the Jayhawks are being featured on Big Monday four times.

The first game will be a rematch of last season’s Big Monday debut between the Baylor and Kansas. Last season, the Bears came to Allen Fieldhouse undefeated before the Jayhawks, led by a 28 point effort by senior guard Tyshawn Taylor, delivered the Bears their first defeat of the season. This year’s contest will take place on Jan. 14.

Two weeks later, the Jayhawks will make their second appearance on Big Monday when they travel to West Virginia on Jan. 28. It will be the first meeting between the two teams in Men’s Basketball history, as West Virginia is playing its first season in the Big 12 this year.

The final two appearances feature much more familiar foes for the Jayhawks. On Feb. 11, Kansas will take on in-state rival Kansas State at Allen Fieldhouse. Their last Big Monday appearance of the season is on Feb. 25, when the Jayhawks travel to Aimes, Iowa to take on Iowa State.

Kansas coach Bill Self is undefeated in home games on Big Monday, posting a 14-0 record and a 26-8 record overall. Last year, the Jayhawks went 4-0 in Big Monday games.
